A second ice storm within a week caused considerable damage to trees, utility lines, houses and other buildings. Long electrical outages left a few areas short of water. There were many injuries and a few deaths from automobile accidents. The counties most affected were: Warren, Vance, Granville, Person, Caswell, Rockingham, Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Chatham, Randolph, Davidson, Davie, Rowan, Iredell, Catawba, Lincoln, Cleveland, Gaston, Lee, Moore, and the northern parts of Montgomery and Stanly. | |||
