Heavy precipitation the first few days of the month with mostly snow in the Mountains and rain elsewhere, but with some areas getting a mixture of snow, sleet, and rain. Rather windy, with some blowing snow reported in the Mountains. Wind overturned several mobile homes in scattered areas. Trees fell on houses and autos. Some power failures. Plate glass and signs were blown down. At the beach, winds caused moderately high seas and tides, especially high in Manteo., where stores and other buildings were flooded. Flash flooding of small streams in some areas and some flooding of river low grounds. There was some damage to tobacco plant beds. | |||
