| As a storm system tracked just south of the region between one to three inches of snow fell along and north of Highway 64 to the Virginia border. The heaviest snow fell in a band more more than 30 miles wide.
EXTENDED ANALYSIS: An unusually strong clipper, or northwest flow, system passed just south of central NC during the day of December 5th, 2010. A narrow swath of 2 to 3 inch snowfall accumulations occurred across norther NC, with lighter amounts outside of this band. The northwestern NC mountains saw anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of snowfall. |
