A period of freezing rain caused dangerous driving conditions across the Northwest Piedmont on the morning of January 6. Icy roads were reported across the Northwest Piedmont, mainly to the north of Interstate 40. Conditions were made worse by existing snow cover from a snow storm a few days earlier. The freezing rain fell for a few hours before changing over to rain in the afternoon. | |||
