Freezing rain spread across central NC from south to north starting at mid day. There was widespread damage to power lines and property- the NC Insurance News Service reported $4.5 million in damage to homes and autos alone. The storm's effects lasted many days- some areas were without power for almost a week. Many people said this was the worst ice storm since the early 60's. | |||
